Join "Friends of Scouting"
And provide financial support to Hawkeye Area Council
Friends of Scouting is the annual campaign where Hawkeye Area Council asks Scouting families, businesses and civic-minded citizens to support our mission of providing the Scouting program to thousands of young people in Eastern Iowa.
Friends of Scouting provides roughly one-quarter of the money needed to operate the Hawkeye Area Council's Scouting camps, programs and facilities for a calendar year. These camping and training facilities are the "outdoor classrooms" in which Scouts have fun, learn leadership skills and develop into better young men and women.
All Donated Money Stays Local
All money donated to the Friends of Scouting annual campaign stays local to directly support Scouting operations in Eastern Iowa. Our Council operates within seven Eastern Iowa Counties -Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn, and Washington. The $24 annual membership registration fee paid by Scouts and adults is provided directly to the National Boy Scouts of America Council to support their operation.
It costs $195 per year to provide services to a youth in Scouting. Please consider supporting one or more youth. Gifts of any amount, including stocks and assets are welcome. They all add up to building stronger Scouting programs in our community.
Giving is Easy
There are lots of ways to give to Scouting. Each year, we coordinate Friends of Scouting presentations at Pack, Troop, and Crew meetings to ask Scouting families for their support. Presentations are made by Scouting volunteers and usually last 10 minutes. A Friends of Scouting presentation is an opportunity for our families and friends to pledge their contribution towards a better Scouting future.
If you miss your unit's FOS Presentation, see this online presentation
for more information about the Friends of Scouting program.
We take pledges over the phone or by mail. The 2017 FOS Family Brochure is online - the same one provided at the unit presentation. If you would like to speak with someone about a gift, please contact the Hawkeye Area Council at (319) 862-0541.
