Order of the Arrow
The official website of Cho-Gun-Mun-A-Nock Lodge Order of the Arrow is http://www.chogun.org.
For more than 95 years, the Order of the Arrow (OA) has recognized Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. This recognition provides encouragement for others to live these ideals as well. Arrowmen are known for maintaining camping traditions and spirit, promoting year-round and long term resident camping, and providing cheerful service to others. OA service, activities, adventures, and training for youth and adults are models of quality leadership development and programming that enrich and help to extend Scouting to America's youth.
The Cho-Gun-Mun-A-Nock Lodge is the local branch of the OA. The Lodge officially became a part of the Order of the Arrow in 1948.
Summer Camp Call-out Ceremonies
June 22, June 29, July 13, and July 20, 2011
Summer Camp Family Nights, Camp Wakonda
All members of the Cho-Gun-Mun-A-Nock Lodge of the Order of the Arrow are encouraged to participate in the Summer Camp Call-out Ceremonies. We need youth in regalia to act as torch bearers, participate in the arrow dances, act as runners during the Call-out ceremony, and other roles as necessary. We also need adults in regalia to form the greeting lines outside the entrance of the Campfire Ring, and also act as escorts from the Hailer to the back rail of the campfire ring.
Participating in Summer Camp Call-out Ceremonies is a part of the Lodge's Duty Promotion system for both youth and adults. The Lodge Duty System is designed to help Arrowmen further their understanding of the Order and to encourage active participation in Lodge activities and functions.
The Cho-Gun-Mun-A-Nock Lodge believes that youth membership retention is another benefit of the Order of the Arrow program. As a youth in Scouting matures and completes individual advancement goals, he can turn to the Order of the Arrow as a source of further opportunity to experience Scouting. Youth members who stay with the Scouting program longer typically achieve higher ranks of advancement, serve as camp staff, and ultimately choose to give back to Scouting in adulthood.
Cho-Gun-Mun-A-Nock Lodge Fall Conclave
September 9th, 2011 - September 11th, 2011
Camp Wakonda
Fall Conclave is the first opportunity for Ordeal Candidates to complete their ordeal. Ordeal Candidates MUST attend Friday night of Fall Conclave in order to complete their ordeal.
Fall Conclave is also an opportunity for Ordeal Members to complete their membership in the lodge, if they completed their ordeal no later than Fall 2010. Fall Conclave is one of the opportunities to provide service to YOUR camp. Those completing their ordeal will be part of Clans that will have specific projects. For the rest of the conclave participants, you get to select your work project. For all but the Ordeal Candidates, our cooks provide delicious meals that are the envy of most of the surrounding Scout Camps. Ordeal Candidates, don't worry, Saturday night's Cracker Barrel is a feast in your honor. The Lodge Executive Committee (LEC) is a group of youth and adult OA members who direct and lead the lodge's activities. The LEC is led by the youth Lodge Chief and adult Lodge Adviser. The Chapters of the Lodge follow the same boundaries as the Council's Districts: Old Capitol Valley, Red Cedar, and Three Rivers. Each district has a Chapter Chief and Chapter Adviser who are responsible for delivering the lodge programming on the local level. The lodge maintains an extensive patch collection.
