This event will be held on Saturday March 13 from noon till 6:30pm at Cornell College. from noon till 5pm there will be activity stations for all Webelos II scouts to participate in. These stations are geared to help the Webelos get ready to join Boy Scout Troops in our area. The fee for this event is $5 per scout, and $1 for each adult leader attending. Registration forms were provided to all Packs at roundtable and were also sent via email to all Cubmasters. Make sure that all scouts are registered so that we do not miss anyone with recognition items. Tiger Cub den leaders, Cub Scout den leaders, Webelos den leaders, Cubmasters and pack committee members complete this training in approximately 2½ hours. The leader is considered trained upon completion of New Leader Essentials and the Leader Specific training for that position. When moving to a new position, you need to be retrained in that specific position (ex.-Tiger Cub Leader becomes Den Leader, Den Leader becomes Webelos Den Leader, etc.).This training will be held at the CRST Training Center at 16th Ave SW in Cedar Rapids on Sunday March 14th from 1-4 pm
For Scoutmasters and assistant Scoutmasters, this training is one of a three part series. Parts one and two concentrate on troop operation and can be completed in two three hour session. The third part, which focuses on outdoor skills, is a weekend camping experience. The skills taught are based on the outdoor skills found in the Boy Scout Handbook. The course is also ideal for Venturing leaders because it focuses on skills that build confidence and competence in leaders conducting outdoor camping experiences.
Open to members of the council's conservation committee. For more information contact conservation committee chairman, Garth Horning.
