Hawkeye Area Council Serves over 7,000 Youth Annually

Hawkeye Area Council operates to serve over 7,000 youth annually throughout seven counties in Eastern Iowa. Friends of Scouting is the annual campaign where Hawkeye Area Council asks Scouting families, businesses and civic-minded citizens to support our mission of providing the Scouting program to thousands of young people in Eastern Iowa.

Friends of Scouting provides roughly one-fifth of the money needed to operate the Hawkeye Area Council's Scouting camps, programs and facilities for a calendar year. These camping and training facilities are the "outdoor classrooms" in which Scouts have fun, learn leadership skills and develop into better young men and women.

All Donated Money Stays Local

All money donated to the Friends of Scouting annual campaign stays local to directly support Scouting operations in Eastern Iowa. The $15 annual membership registration fee paid by Scouts and adults is provided directly to the National Boy Scouts of America Council to support their operation.

Scouting operates within seven Eastern Iowa Counties, Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn, and Washington. Each community takes ownership in their local Scouting Packs, Troops, and Crews. During any number of community celebrations, you will be hard pressed to not find Scouting youth marching in a parade, picking up litter, or helping around the community.
