For Cub Scouts: You can join us for this FREE movie at Collins Road Theaters if you bring a friend who signs up to join Cub Scouts at this Recruiting Event and make sure to wear your uniform!

 

For Boys in 1st-5th Grades: If you’re not in Cub Scouts yet, you can join us for this FREE movie at Collins Road Theaters if you sign up to join Cub Scouts at this Recruiting Event!

 

For Parents of New Cubs: You can sign your 1st-5th Grade son up for Cub Scouts at this FREE movie event and drop him off for Hotel Transylvania. The doors open at 9:30 AM and all you have to do to join is complete a Youth Application and pay the registration fee for the rest of 2012 ($1.25)


We’ll give you the Contact Information for your son’s new Cub Scout Pack. Your new Pack will be given your contact information as well to get in touch with you about meetings, volunteer opportunities in the Pack, and registering your son for Cub Scouts in2013.

Program Kickoffs for 2012-2013 in August!

 Well Trained Leaders = Quality Program and no place is better to hear about everything happening in 2012 and 2013 than at our Program Kickoffs Thursday, August 9th at these locations:

Red Cedar District at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton church in Hiawatha at 6:00 pm, Three Rivers District at Marion Christian Church in Marion at 6:00 p.m.,

Old Capitol Valley District at 7:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Dublin Drive in Iowa City.)

What is Wood Badge and why should I attend this Training?
 
Wood Badge was originally presented by Lord Baden-Powell as a means of strengthening and preserving the Scouting movement throughout the world. Since its inauguration in the United States in 1948, thousands of Scouter’s have attended Wood Badge and have considered it a mountaintop experience in their Scouting careers.
 
Today, Wood Badge courses provide advanced leadership development. The objective of Wood Badge is to demonstrate in a practical way the "aims and methods" of Scouting and to develop Scout spirit through a program of learning sessions and activities. During the course, you will live Scouting and be exposed to the application of leadership and Scouting skills as they are applied in the development of leaders and youth. This training will help you not only in Scouting but also in your careers, your church and other group situations you are involved with.
 
But more importantly, during your Wood Badge experience, you will create lasting relationships with other Scouter’s.
 
This is a unique "Cluster Course" that is being hosted by the Winnebago Council, but will offered to six surrounding councils, and will take place at Camp Wakonda. If you were thinking about Wood Badge and missed the course offered in Hawkeye Area Council in 2011, this is a great opportunity to participate in a unique course, with staff members from all six councils.
 
The Winnebago Council “Sunday Friendly” Course Dates and Location are as follows:
  • Pre-Course Gathering: March 2012 – Date and location to be determined. (This is an informational gathering: Attendance is highly recommended, but not required).
  • Course Session #1 - Thursday – Saturday, April 12-14, 2012
  • Course Session #2 - Thursday – Saturday, April 26-28, 2012
  • You must attend both Sessions #1 & #2 to complete the course and be certified.

Don't miss out on any of the fun or excitement of the annual program kick-off events!  These exciting nights provide an opportunity for you to find out about all the upcoming events and activities for Fall 2011 and Winter, Spring, and Summer 2012! 

This is also the place to get all the help and materials you need to be successful in growing your pack, troop, or crew by offering the Scouting experience to all young people in your area. 

All district program kick-offs are held on Thursday, August 11.  For more information on location, times, and specific details please select your district below.

Red Cedar OA Chapter Meeting

The location for the Red Cedar OA Chapter Meeting has been changed to Regis Middle School, 735 Prairie Drive NE, Cedar Rapids.  The next meeting will be on January 13, 2010 from 7pm - 8:30pm.
