Scouting Made Easy

Scouting Made Easy is designed to be a resource for leaders to utilize in welcoming new Scouts to units. Please feel free to customize any/all of the following resources to aid in welcoming your new Scouts by creating a welcome packet, section of a website, presentation, etc.

How To Get Started

The "How To Get Started" template is a customizable parent handout that addresses some common questions parents have when their son first joins Scouts.

How Can I Help?
Parents are often looking for ways to help your unit, but may not know where to begin. Please use the, "How Can I Help?"  template as a starting point to point parents in the right direction. Like all templates in this section, it is fully customizable.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
The FAQ's document is an editable version of commonly asked questions of Scout's leaders throughout the Scouting experience. Please use this as a template to add to or subtract from to better meet your unit specific needs.

Questions to Ask your Leaders
In some cases, parents would like to encourage their sons to join Scouting, but have no familiarity with the program. The provided basic questions will aid parents in gaining more knowledge of Scouting. The "Questions to Ask your Leaders" template is a good place for parents to gain insight to the types of questions they should be asking their leaders.

Uniform Guide
A special "Uniform Guide" is provided for the common uniform questions. Please customize as needed to better meet your unit's needs and as an aid in welcoming new Scouts.

How is Scouting Organized?
The Boy Scouts of America is one of many Scouting programs internationally.  Hawkeye Area Council is one of many Councils serving local territories.  Locally, Hawkeye Area Council serves seven counties within Eastern Iowa.  This guide provides more information on how the Hawkeye Area Council is structured and the support that it provides an individual unit.
